From a background in arts and heritage William began volunteering in London gardens – Chelsea Physic, Garden Museum, Lambeth Palace; and later studied full-time at Capel Manor College. After working as horticulturist at a heritage site for Essex County Council he moved on to manage the community kitchen garden at Chiswick House. More recently William delivered a local authority food growing and greening initiative in Kensington and Chelsea and is currently Head of Parks and Community for Bankside Open Spaces Trust.
